6th Street Antique Mall is a mainstay on Route 66 in Amarillo. When Chip Hunt purchased the store in late
2004, she knew 6th Street Antique Mall would bring her love of antiques to the public.
At the age of 17, Chip Hunt began buying and selling antiques. She spends time understanding the difference
between antique, vintage and classic pieces. So, what is the difference? Antique items are 100-plus years,
vintage is 50-plus years and classic is 25-plus years in age. "I try to keep brand new out of this store with a
few exceptions," says Hunt.
There are several vendors who hold shop in 6th Street Antique Mall. With customers from all around the world

We also expanded next door as Amarillo's Route 66 Store featuring Route 66 memorabilia and antiques.
Our services are provided in Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, Abilene and all surrounding areas. Our shelters are manufactured by Smart Shelters Inc in Oklahoma City. Their patent pending shelter design allows most vehicles to remain parked over it while providing your family with a quick and safe place to ride out any life threatening storm. The lid design has been impact tested by Texas Tech Wind Science & Research Center and given a "pass" rating. The materials used to construct each shelter and safe room exceed the stringent standards dictated by FEMA and the ICC 500.
Exposito School of Hair Design is Amarillo's only locally owned and accredited school of hair design. In as little as 9 months, a student can have a lifetime career in the field of cosmetology, a field of high demand, not only in the Texas Panhandle but across the United States.
According to a survey done in May 2003 by the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences, the salon industry is a job-seeker's market. Some 56% of the salon owners reported that they had job openings. More than 572,000 open positions were filled in 2002 with both experienced salon professionals changing positions (73% of the new hires) and with inexperienced professionals with less than one years experience (27% of new hires). The supply does not appear to be keeping up with demand. Approximately 3 out of every 4 owners who looked for new employees in 2002 reported difficulty in finding qualified personnel.
